Dear all,
We are delighted to share the 8th issue of OM RISE Magazine with you. For this issue, the theme is Spirituality for Business and Society. Spirituality is a broad concept embraced by many with different principles, practices and rituals. The path to spirituality generally starts by recognising that something is greater and beyond oneself and having faith in that. Different people adopt different practices to reflect on their personal experiences and practice gratitude. In this issue the authors from different parts of the world have penned down their personal experiences, discussed spiritual traditions and practices in their region, and have reflected on educational topics and their personal experiences from the spirituality lens.
Articles in this issue also highlight that in the spiritual path character strength plays a significant role. Moreover, research1 has also established a significant relationship between character strength (like humility, gratitude, forgiveness and love for others) and spirituality. Character strength and spirituality when combined together embark a journey towards wholeness.
In the “Reflections” section, we invited a few researchers to reflect on their journey into the academic world of spirituality alongside their personal and professional lives.
Additionally, as in previous issues, some useful links, announcements of new courses and conferences are mentioned. We hope you will enjoy and be inspired to apply some of the insights gained.

“Spirituality is in its essence an awakening to the inner reality of our being, to a spirit, self,
soul which is other than our mind, life and body, an inner aspiration to know, to feel, to be
that, to enter into contact with the greater reality beyond and pervading the universe which
inhabits also our own being, to be in communication with It and union with It, and a turning,
a conversion, a transformation of our whole being as a result of the aspiration, the contact, the union, a growth or waking into a new becoming or new being, a new self, a new nature.”
(Sri Aurobindo)
“Let us encourage the generosity which is typical of the young and help them to work actively in building a better world. Youth do not solely need material things. Above all, they need to have those non-material values which are the spiritual heart of a people … spirituality, generosity, solidarity, perseverance, fraternity, and joy.”
(Pope Francis)
“It isn’t until you come to a spiritual understanding of who you are – not necessarily a religious feeling, but deep down, the spirit within – that you can begin to take control.”
(Oprah Winfrey)
