We are delighted to share the 11th issue of OM RISE Magazine. For this issue, the theme is Sustainability and re-generativity in business and society. We discuss how spirituality can have role within this theme.. Global institutions and governments in many countries are trying to become more transparent. They show responsibility towards meeting the sustainability goals “(SDG). For example, “the Netherlands has integrated tracking its SDG progress into the regular policy cycles.
Every year, the government submits a report to the parliament outlining national SDG progress”12. In India the government’s initiative of sabakā sātha, sabakā vikāsa, translated as “Collective Effort, Inclusive Development is an initiative to meet the SDGs.3
In this issue, we bring you a collection of articles that reflect how we can live a life that is spiritually nourished toward sustainable living. In the spirituality and society section, we share an essential insight into how spirituality can help us deal with the world’s problems in the current context. In continuation to how to lead a meaningful life, another author shares the twin sciences of āyurveda and yoga as specific codes of conduct of righteous living (physical, mental and spiritual) to reach the pinnacle of awareness and evolve to be our higher selves.
In the management section, we share two case studies of how business organizations can contribute towards sustainable development.
In the “Reflections” section, we bring you a mix of personal stories and insights that the authors reflect upon from a spiritual lens.
On 14 December Vrije University (VU) Amsterdam had the honor to welcome the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Ambassador Mrs. Reenat Sandhu. She visited VU Amsterdam to jointly celebrate Divali with the Indian community and to share stories and exchange on VU- Indian academic collaboration with the Rector Jeroen Geurts, academics and students. Some highlights of the program are shared in the useful information section.
